A Testimonial from our very own Dr. Bowers!
“For over 30 years I have given my dry eye patients artificial tears, warm compresses and omega 3s to treat their symptoms, then I developed dry eye. It was miserable! I decided there had to be something better for those of us who suffer with the myriad of symptoms, so I began doing research and learning from dry eye experts across the country. While dry eye is still a challenging, chronic condition, there is help. I had the radio frequency treatments a few months ago and I am pleased with the results. My eyes feel much better and my vision is clearer. Not everyone is a candidate for RF, but there are medications and other treatments available. I would encourage anyone experiencing symptoms to seek help. It may take time and patience to find the right treatment but it is worth the investment.”
How TempSure Envi Works
TempSure Envi is a Radio Frequency device that targets Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, the
leading cause of Dry Eye Disease. Using carefully designed handpieces to safely and
precisely deliver radio frequency energy to the delicate skin around the eyes, Tempsure
helps to unclog the meibomian glands inside the eyelids and restore the flow of oils into the
tears, improving the eye’s natural ability to moisturize.
“I had suffered with chronic dry eye for several years, treating it with expensive prescription eye drops. When I first came to Bowers Optometry, Dr. Bowers immediately identified me as an excellent candidate for RF for Dry Eye. After a thorough explanation, we agreed that when the staff was trained and the equipment in place, I would be the first patient.
Here we are, months later, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Gone are the prescription drops, and gone are the fatigued feeling and squinting. I am able to enjoy television, reading, and computer time much better. I’m an enthusiastic fan of RF for Dry Eye.”

FAQs
Is TempSure Envi right for me?
TempSure Envi is ideal for patients with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction. If you have not yet
discovered the cause of your dry eye, please call to schedule an appointment with Dr.
Bowers for a Dry Eye Evaluation! Dr. Bowers will be able to determine the cause of your dry
eye and discuss the best course of treatment for you.
What can I expect?
TempSure Envi is a comfortable, safe procedure that doesn’t have any downtime. Some
patients have reported that it feels similar to a relaxing hot stone massage. After the
procedure, you might have slight redness which is caused by your skin’s elevated
temperatures during treatment and will subside soon afterward. You will be able to return to
your normal day-to-day activities immediately after the treatment!
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment can be completed in as little as 30 minutes! Because Meibomian Gland
Dysfunction varies in severity in each patient, multiple treatments are ideal to achieve
optimum results. Dr. Bowers will discuss the appropriate number of treatments with you.
How many treatments are recommended?
3 – 5 treatments are recommended about 2- 4 weeks apart to allow for the meibomian
glands to fully unclog and begin allowing oil to flow once again. The time between
treatments will also allow time for your skin’s collagen to restore and rebuild elasticity before
treating the area again.
Are there any side effects?
Although most patients do not experience any side effects other than temporary redness,
some patients have reported mild swelling that subsided in a few
days. A happy side effect that many patients experience is a smoothing of the fine lines and
wrinkles around their eyes as the collagen in the skin rebuilds in the treatment area.
